The Lupita Effect - We welcome the barrage of imagery to come as advertisers, marketers and brands scramble to infuse some “brownness” into their campaigns. Anthropologie, a brand that we love to shop, gave a pleasant surprise and broke process with the feature of this lovely brown skinned, short haired beauty in their recent weekend e-blast.

"The Lupita Effect" bound to sweep our visual space in the coming months. We love it, because we of course adore Lupita, but we’ve always adored all of the Lupita’s out there who rock personal style, and are under represented in major advertising campaigns and mainstream medial.

We ask that you not forget we, she, her, the “Lupitalike” lovely when the “trend” of being Oscar Famous has passed.

SheHue asks Actor, Journalist Robert James Bray "What’s Your Hue?".  Robert talks about upcoming projects and shares his “Hue” with the network.

You can find Robert at RobertJamesBray.com

Meet SheHue Creative Ambassador, Eboness Belin of Fleur di Lis Event Design Company, Dallas/Fort Worth Texas
Eboness Belin: Designer. Crafter. Party Hostess. Lover of the Color Green
Eboness Belin’s design style has always been very eclectic, a mix of the old with the new.  The creative loves her 1950’s Royal Typewriter and the color green. Eboness, named her beautiful 3 year old daughter “Emerald” 18 years before she was born.  True story.
She’s always been what one would call “creative”. Eboness was one of those kids that loved the big 64 count boxes of Crayola crayons, other children made fun of her for knowing specifically how colors “Chartreuse”, or “Periwinkle” looked.  Working in Finance for 6 years right out of undergrad, she ultimately decided that Fashion was really where she needed to be to fuel her passion for all things design. ( Insert  creative light bulb moment here ) She  thought to herself, work “can” be fun if I’m doing what I love.  Eboness studied at F.I.T. in NYC and got her start in the industry working for Jordache - yep, they still make ‘em!.  Since then, Eboness has been designing for interiors, parties, life’s celebrations, you name it.
As Creative Director/Co-Owner of Fleur de Lis Event Design Co. in the Dallas-Fort Worth TX area, Eboness helps her clients achieve “Parties That Wow”!  From concept to installation, the companies design process ultimately creates unique and beautiful décor elements including backdrops, centerpieces, and custom dessert tables. The team handcrafts much of what is featured in the design plan, creating a one of a kind look and feel for clients and guests alike.  They’ve had the pleasure of being featured on Style Me Pretty, Project Nursery, Unique Bride Magazine, Shauna Younge Dessert Tables, and Kara’s Party Ideas.  ”Our goal is to continue to grow in our craft, be a resource to our clients while also being a vital part of the design community”.

" I wanted to create a magical world for my daughter Emerald’s 4th Birthday and without a doubt this theme couldn’t have been more fitting! The focal point is the dessert table- I used simple cylinder vases with LED lights to create the "city". Another fave is the Emerald Ribbon and Crepe Paper pomanders perched high atop white candlesticks. They were labor intensive to make but oh so worth it!! I think we’ll offer these for sale (custom) in the Bliss Shop!! The most important thing that I kept in mind during the design process was to balance the color palette with white, I didn’t want it to look like a St. Patty’s day party. I also used the blue/white gingham pattern from Dorothy’s dress as placements to break up the white. The kids had a blast! " - Eboness Belin

Target Copies a Blogger : It Happens Again : Corporate Giant Copies Independent Creative

We are acutely aware of design pirating. What about creative style pirating? Fully on display by a creative team member at Target who took it a bit TOO far. Imitation is definitely flattery. Good Artists Copy and Great Artists Steal, seems to be the case here. Let’s hope that Vintage Rivival is fairly compensated from the “heavy concept lift”
Support her by tagging Target and telling them how “not good” style stealing is!

We’re loyal fans of Blue Apron, and due to a shipping mix up we didn’t get out delivery for the week. Blue Apron has refunded our money and given us a sweet bonus towards our next order (thanks Blue Apron). The convenience that BA offers is absolutely the value add to the service. We’d rather spend our time being crafty, and leave the creative recipes (and shopping) to someone else.

This was a great shopping exercise to challenge Blue Apron’s value verses doing it all on your own. Not having the handy insulated box at our doorstep was definitely a downer - we do appreciate NOT having to drive to the market, and pre-planning not one but three recipes each week. Having all of that bundled (recipe, food selected, at the front door) is a win-win-win.

After work, (we’d rather be driving straight home) we hit the local market and shopped for all the ingredients normally shipped for one meal delivery. The total super market spend was about $21.00. We cringed at all of the ingredients that would be wasted. If you look at the photos from our shopping results and the photo that Blue Apron provides - it’s apparent that lots of that stuff will be discarded or relegated to the freezer or spice cabinet till the end of days.

$21.00 gets us close to the 9.99 advertised per person, per meal spend. What’s not priced: the value of convenience, cost of added spices, recipe scouting and shopping list planning.

The other sucky fact: You always forget something when you go to the market, EVEN when you’ve prepared a list. We simply printed out Blue Apron’s ingredient list and thought that we purchased everything, but in the kitchen as we unpacked, we realized we forgot the Old Bay ( we had some anyway ) and the baguette (who needs more carbs??). With Blue Apron, there’s no forgetting any ingredients.

Check back for the AFTER photos.

Ok - 3 hours later and the after photo is posted. There was everything right and good with the world once we finished the Manhattan Fish Chowder. We’re certain that the Blue Apron version would have been better, the fish we could purchase locally  was unfortunately frozen (who knows for how long) and the bay leaf was not fresh. Regardless, we continue to learn about flavor. Adding lemon zest and lemon to seafood and vegan dishes add an unexpected note of flavor. The hot sauce made this dish “just right”.  We improvised with the bread (we keep puff pastry in the freezer for emergencies like this :) ) It worked perfectly. We didn’t waste as much as we anticipated, although the result may have cost a bit more, the outcome was just as tasty as prior Blue Apron delivered meals. Nothing, beats the convenience of the delivery and pre-planning.

We can’t wait for Thursday’s delivery :)
